Allen Bari is a New Jersey native and attended Rutgers University. Bari graduated with a double major in Economics and Finance. After graduating Bari went to work as a stockbroker for Morgan Stanley and also AIG. Due to the economic downturn Bari was forced to turn to poker full time.

He has played on the live tournament circuit sine 2004 and has over 2.7 million in career earnings. This latest win is both his largest as well as his most high profile. Bari has been staked by fellow pro Jason Mercier.

Both players have said that the staking arrangement had not been as profitable as either one had imagined. Bari is said to have been in makeup for close several hundred thousand. This latest cash will put both Mercier and Bari in the black.

Bari is well known on the tournament circuit for his brash and candid comments. Some commentators have compared his level of confidence to Phil Helmuth Jr. When he was interviewed following his bracelet win he said: “Seriously, I thought that if I did not win a bracelet it would like be a joke. I do not think my swagger is undeserved.” He added the following: “Everyone else things they are good, but they’re not. They all stink” then laughed.

Bari made his first televised cash game appearance recently on PokerStars Big Game. On the show he is seen telling Daniel Negreanu that that he invented the min three bet. The colorful exchange between Bari and Negreanu signaled a brash new player on the horizon.

Bari’s style of play throughout the entire tournament was hyper aggressive. He constantly put pressure on his opponents. When time came for the final table Bari had amassed one of the largest chip stacks. By the time it was down to the final four players Bari had a commanding chip lead over Maria Ho, Nicholas Blumenthal and Sean Lefort.

Bari eliminated Sean Lefort in third place when his pocket Kings held against Leforts pocket Tens. The final hand of the tournament saw Maria Ho move all in with Ace Four of spades and get called by Bari’s pocket eights. The eights held and Bari had won his first ever WSOP bracelet.
