AGCC to Conduct Independent External Review of Full Tilt License Revocation
On September 29th of 2011, the Alderney Gambling Control Commission finally revoked the license of Full Tilt Poker to provide online poker services. After months of accusations, threatened lawsuits, and unanswered questions surrounding the revocation process, the AGCC announced that it would launch an independent external review of revocation process.

The AGCC will conduct an external review of the process behind the revocation of Full Tilt Poker's egaming license.
In a press release from the AGCC, the decision to do the review was done to “provide full transparency”. Former Chairman of the British Gambling Commission Peter Dean CBE has been appointed to conduct the review.
According to André Wilsenach, Executive Director of the AGCC,
“As soon as we became aware that there were possible irregularities in relation to FTP’s operational integrity AGCC acted to discharge fully our statutory obligations.
We believe we acted appropriately and fairly at all times but, following our own internal assessment and the inevitable questions that have been raised by third parties, the Commission decided that it is in the best interests of players, licence holders and AGCC itself to commission an independent review and to make the outcome public.
I am delighted that Peter Dean has agreed to conduct the review. He has many years of experience at the top of the British Gambling Commission and commands wide respect from operators and regulators alike. He has been asked to review fully the actions taken by AGCC in respect of FTP and to focus specifically on the appropriateness, timeliness and fairness of those actions.”
The scope of the review per the press release is “a review of the actions taken by AGCC against FTP considering AGCC’s statutory obligations, focussing specifically on the appropriateness, timeliness and fairness of the actions undertaken. ”
Since the original license revocation in September, various members of the media and pro players have spoken out against the AGCC’s handling of the situation. The AGCC all admitted to the BBC that they took Full Tilt’s word regarding the company’s financial status and failed to conduct their own internal reviews. PokerNews.com owner and pro player Tony G even threatened a lawsuit against the AGCC for their handling of the matter.
The AGCC has asked that Mr. Dean provide a “final report and recommendations to the Commission by the end of March, 2012.”
