Eleven Records Broken So Far at Midway Point of 2011 WSOP

The 2011 WSOP has reached the halfway point and so far the attendance records have exceeded anyone’s expectations going into this summer.  In addition, there have been 11 records broken so far.

Eleven records already broken at the 2011 WSOP

Here are the records that have been broken at the 2011 WSOP:

  • Largest Heads-Up tournament prize pool  of $3.04 Million in Event #2
  • Largest Omaha Hi-Lo Split Tournament in history with 925 players in Event #3
  • Largest Six-Handed tournament in history with 1,920 players in Event #10
  • Largest $1,500 buy-in NL tournament with a single start day with 3,157 players in event #18
  • Largest $1,000 buy-in NL tournament with a single start day with 3,175 players in Event #20
  • Largest consecutive-days Day 1 field sizes in poker history with 6,332 player combined between Events #18 and Event #20.
  • Largest PLO Tournament in history with 1,071 players in Event #22
  • Largest 8-Game tournament in poker history with 489 players in Event #23
  • Largest Seniors poker tournament in poker history with 3,752 players in Event #30
  • Event #30 broke the record for most players in a single start day for a $1,000 Event set by Event #20.  Event #30 had 3,752 player.

According to WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart, “We are humbled once again by the incredible turnout from players all over the world.  It has been a record-setting summer thus far in 2011 and we are confident it will continue through the duration of the tournament.”

23 events are left to kick off over the next 17 days, including the $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em Championship, aka the Main Event.
