FS+G Poker League Renamed Epic Poker League
On Monday, Federated Sports and Gaming unveiled the name of their new poker league. From this point forward, the league will now be known as the Epic Poker League.
Jeffrey Grossman, COO off FS&G said, “This is no ordinary tournament league. Our fields will be some of the toughest in poker history and we expect the competition to be nothing less than epic. In selecting a name that could live up to the players’ incredible skill and talent, epic was a natural fit.”
Reaction to the announcement of the name of the league was mixed, with many poking fun at the new name. Some said that it appeared that a random 20-year old came up with the name, and others made fun of the logo saying it looked like a convenience store logo or was similar to the Lance Snack Foods logo. One pros actually even said that he is glad to not be invited after such ridiculous name choice.
Regardless of opinion of the name, the new poker league is set to kick off in just 38 days. The first event will be from August 5th through 8th and will hold three tournaments. The first will be a Pro-Am event that will award the final table participants a one-time exemption into the Main Event for that series. On August 7th, a charity tournament will be held to benefit a yet to be named charity. Finally, on August 9th through 12th, the $20,000 rake free buy-in Main Event will be held that will consist of only EPL card holders and final table participants from the Pro-Am.
Pros that have not earned their cards have until August 1st of this year to qualify for Season 1. After that point, the only way they can play in a season 1 Main Event is to make the final table of the Pro-Am. For more information, visit the Epic Poker League website.
