Phil Hellmuth Continues to Lead 2011 WSOP Player of the Year Race

With the 2011 World Series of Poker winding down the race for Player of the Year is coming to the finish line. Phil Hellmuth has taken the lead with his latest 2nd place finish in the 50K Poker Players Championship. Hellmuth still has Ben Lamb and Brian Rast to contend with. Both players are within striking distance and a win in the Main Event would boost their score. Rounding out the top five are Chris Moorman and Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier.

Hellmuth continues to lead WSOP Player of the Year race heading into the Main Event.

Phil Hellmuth is in the lead with 710.25 points. Hellmuth has cashed five times at the 2011 WSOP. He came in 2nd in the $10K No Limit Deuce to Seven Championship, 2nd in the $10K Seven Card Stud High-Lo Championship and 2nd in the $50K Poker Players Championship. In addition he came in 36th in the $5K No Limit 6-Max and 28th in the 1K No-Limit Championship.  Hellmuth has cashed for $1,591,004 at the series so far.

Ben Lamb is in 2nd place with 659.05 points. Lamb has cashed four times at the 2011 WSOP. He has a bracelet in the 10K Pot Limit Omaha Championship. Lamb came in 2nd in the  $3,000 Pot Limit Omaha. Lamb came in 12th in the $10K No Limit Hold’Em Six-Handed Championship. Lamb came in 8th in the $50K Poker Players Championship. Lamb has cashed for $1,331,832 at the series this year.

Brian Rast is in 3rd place with 550.00 points. Rast has won two bracelets at this WSOP. He came in 1st in the $1,500 Pot Limit Hold’Em and 1st at the $50K Poker Players Championship. Rast also came in 42nd in the $2,500 8 Game Mix. Rast has cashed for $1,952,443 at the series so far.

Chris Moorman comes in 4th place with 486.20 points. Moorman has cashed 5 times at the series so far. Moorman came in runner up in the $10K No Limit Hold’Em Six-Handed Championship. He came in 3rd in the $2,500 No-Limit Hold’Em Six-Max Championship. Moorman also came in 11th in the $5K Pot Limit Omaha Championship and 66th in the $1,500 No Limit Championship.

Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier is in 5th place with 479.25. Grospellier has cashed 4 times at the series so far. ElkY won his first bracelet this year in the $10K Seven Card Stud Championship. He also came in 3rd in the $10K Six Max No-Limit Hold’Em. ElkY’s other two cashes came in the $1,500 No-Limit Hold’Em Shootout and the $10K No Limit Deuce to Seven Draw championship. ElkY has cashed for  $811,847 so far in the series.
