General Texas Holdem Tips
If you are new to poker, then the game that you are likely the most interested in playing is No-Limit Holdem. Holdem has been the game of choice for 40 years for the WSOP Main Event and has been a staple at the highest levels of poker.
Texas Holdem, especially NL Holdem, has been increasingly popular since 2003 when Chris Moneymaker turned an online satellite into $2.5 Million. Since then, players have turned out in droves to try their hand at the game. Unfortunately, many have not taken the time to learn the game properly and wind up losing more money than they should in the game.
The following video will give you some very basic tips regarding Texas Holdem play. Many of these tips are applicable to NL Holdem as opposed to Limit Holdem. NL Holdem is much different than Limit due to the fact that your entire stack is at risk at any one time. In Limit Holdem, you know what the bet sizes are and can adjust your game appropriately. Also, bluffing is not as frequent an occurrence in Limit Holdem as in NL Holdem. A players fear can play a big factor in how well they play in a NL Holdem.
When watching this video, think about the following things:
How should I play against a short stack?
Should I loosen up my starting hand requirements against a maniac player?
Why should I be concerned about my opponent’s stack size?
Why is my image important at the table?
