Gunning for the Pros
On the run of Poker Roundtable the panel was Howard Lederer, Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth Jr., Phil Gordon and Mike Matusow. The conversation quickly goes to aggression.
Daniel though that people play with how they are if you are aggressive than be aggressive if you are passive you will play passive. Mike Matusow talked about how he needed to take away aggression because many people are too aggressive. Howard talks about how amateurs are just trying to knock out the pros.
Phil Gordon talks about how many of these players just want to take out the pros. Phil Hellmuth talked about how they want the story. He also talks about how these people trying to get on television with Gordon talked about how they are trying to be validated.
Daniel Negreanu talks about how these people are looking to make these big moves like they see on TV. The problem is that they are not skilled enough these moves and then turn around and make the wrong moves.
Mike Matusow talks about how they are trying to build up to the bluff. Mike says how people get to aggressive on each hand. The process to setup for a kill takes long amounts of time.
Dan talks about how most of the game looks mundane. He mentions on how TV makes it look like they have to make the move quick but cut out the work involved. Often times then people get stuck not seeing the whole picture.
Howard talks about being over aggressive is better than being too passive. He says that the pros get frustrated because the players are to wild and aggressive. Phil Hellmuth talks about how much pressure it can be since all of the amateurs are taking their swings.
Mike Matusow was the only one that didn’t seem to be taken back by amateurs coming after pros.
