Will a Woman Make the 2011 WSOP Main Event November Nine?
The 2011 WSOP Main Event is currently in Day 4 play and the remaining 530 players are in the money. A few months back, I made a prediction that we very well may see our first female make a November Nine final table. So far into Day 4, there are a few that still have a shot. Let’s take a quick look at a couple of them:
Amanda Musumeci – 1.13 Million and Top Female at Present
Musumeci learned poker while attending Kutzdown University where she used poker to supplement her bills. Known as primarily an online poker players, she has a number of decent scores including a 3rd place in Full Tilt’s 150k Event. This year’s Main Event marks her first live.
Vanessa Rousso – 854k
Most everyone knows the PokerStars and GoDaddy sponsored female professional. Rousso has over $3.14 Million in live tournament cashes and is still looking for her first WSOP bracelet.
Musumeci is currently 8th in chips overall in the Main Event. She moved up to over 1 Million in chips after knocking out a player in a decent pot where she had pcocket queens against Ah-Kc. The queens held to send her to around her current chip stack.
Rousso moved up to over 1 Million at one point on Day 4. She more than doubled her chips during the bubble period and shortly afterwards was sitting with that 1 Million stack. She later doubled up David Bach when she called a pre-flop shove with Ac-Ks and ran into pocket aces. This knocked her down to her current stack.
Of course, there are still four more days left in this event before we get to the November Nine, and a lot can happen. Will Musumeci be able to withstand the pressure of poker’s biggest stage and can Rousso finally break through and take down her first WSOP bracelet in the biggest event of her life. Time will tell and we will be around to tell it to you.
