WSOP Releases Participation and Payout Stats at 2011 WSOP Midway Point
The 2011 World Series of Poker recently reached it’s halfway point and recently, some numbers were released in regards to participation so far this year. Through 29 events, the 2011 WSOP has awarded over $52.5 Million in prize money. Also, 29,421 players have participated in events, represented by 74 different countries.
Players have made the money in events from 62 different countries, and ever state in the United States has someone that has finished in the money at the 2011 WSOP. Nevada leads with 424 cashes and $6.6 Million in prize money.
Of the 29,421 players that have played through 29 events, 946 of them have been women. This represents just 3.2 percent all players from this year. Also, the average age of those playing at this year’s WSOP is just over 36 years of age.
The average age of players to make the money in the events has been 34.9 years with the average age of those reaching the final table at 33.92. The age of winners so far has been 28.82 years, which seems to indicated that bracelet winners might be getting a bit older.
In regards to individual accomplishments, Tom Dwan is the player with the most number of events entered at 26 of the 29 events. Kirill Rabtsov and Shaun Deeb both lead for number of cashes at this year’s WSOP with 5.
Maria Ho, Erica Schoenberg, Vanessa Selbst and Jennifer Tilly have played the most events among women with 12 events each. Melanie Weisner has cashed the most number of times with 4 cashes so far.
Allen Bari has won the most money amongst players so far at the 2011 WSOP with $883,469 earned. Maria Ho leads the women with $540,020.
Finally, Phil Hellmuth is the current leader for 2011 WSOP Player of the Year. He has 393.75 points to Sam Stein’s 385.75 points. Hellmuth has two runner-up finishes so far this year in the $10,000 2-7 Lowball Championship and the $10,000 Stud 8 or Better Championship.
At present a total of 35 events have kicked off with 23 events remaining to get underway. The final event, the 2011 WSOP Main Event will kick off on July 7th.
